MiRa80T1216X - MIMO radar frontend with 3D-printed antennas

Overview

The MiRa80T1216X product enables the evaluation of a multi-channel automotive 80 GHz radar chipset from Texas Instruments with revolutionary antenna technology. Different antenna types and positions can be realized in a very short time by changing 3D-printed antenna attachments from our partner Golden Devices GmbH. Thanks to the modular design and the technology used, customer-specific adaptations can be implemented quickly and cost-effectively.

Hardware

The MiRa80T1216X system uses four cascaded AWR2243 chipsets from Texas Instruments, which in sum offer 12 transmit and 16 receive channels in the 80 GHz frequency band. By simply changing the antennas, various virtual antenna arrays can be realized and adapted to customer requirements.

  • Developed for easy start into radar technology
  • Compatibility with Texas Instruments FPGA board and associated software framework
  • Interchangeable antennas for maximum flexibility
  • Full raw-data access

Compatibility

The MiRa80T1216X radar frontend is fully compatible with the MMWCAS-DSP-EVM FPGA board from Texas Instruments. This has USB and Ethernet interfaces and can be used for simple configuration and data recording.

Extensive software solutions from Texas Instruments, including numerous demo applications, are freely available to evaluate the radar technology directly in various use-cases.
