About Sykno

Sykno was founded in November 2019 by Fabian Michler and Benedict Scheiner as a spin-off of the Institute of Electronics Engineering at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg. The office and laboratory space is located in the Innovation and Start-up Center (IGZ) in Erlangen-Tennenlohe.

Our focus areas:
  • Application-specific radar and sensing systems
  • Radar evaluation systems
  • Communication systems
  • RF sensing systems
  • EMC measurements for mobile communications
  • RF simulations
  • Consulting

Benedict Scheiner studied medical engineering and electrical engineering at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg and the Universitat Politècnica de Valencía. He then worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Electronics Engineering at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and conducted research on high-frequency sensors for non-contact measurement of the torque of rotating shafts. He successfully completed his doctorate in 2021 and had been working in different positions at the Chair of Technical Electronics.

Benedict Scheiner has been co-founder and managing director of Sykno since 2019. He has more than 40 publications in the fields of high-frequency systems for industrial sensor technology, RF simulations of high-frequency circuits and EMC as well as in the field of algorithmics and microcontroller programming for sensor systems.

Benedict Scheiner is a member of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) and the German Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies (VDE). He works on a voluntary basis as a reviewer for specialist journals and international conferences.
